Unity GIU Blog

Good Morning everyone. Thanks for stopping by and joining me as part of Unity’s GIU Blog Hop.

Today I wanted to share with you a card I made using the amazing stamp set, Family Love, by Graciellie Design. It is one of the newer releases from Unity, but it has quickly become a favorite. I love iris flowers, so I was very excited to see this stamp set.

iris thanks

My favorite Iris flowers are the purple ones, so I of course colored these in a couple of purple tones. Let’s get onto the card.

The image was stamped using Brutus Monroe raven ink and colored with Copic Markers (V12, V15, V17, YG61, YG63, YG67). I cut the image using a My Favorite Things Die cut with a cross stitch pattern along the edge. I mounted that on a piece of black cardstock to ground the image and make it pop off the card.

The card base is a standard white card. The base paper is a Hand crafted cotton paper from Tonic Studios – Evergreen Fir.  The paper is a beautiful metallic color with a lot of embossed texture. If you haven’t tried any of Tonic’s hand crafted paper, I highly suggest giving it a try.

I wrapped some green and white twine around the entire base and adhered it to the card base. Finally, I stamped the phrase “thanks so much” from Big Huge Thanks using PinkFresh ink – Lavender. When it was dry, I stamped it again using an embossing ink and a clear embossing powder. I heat set it to finish it off. I only needed the “thanks” portion, so I fussy cut the word out, mounted it with some foam tape and adhered to the card. Finally, I added some Nuvo glitter drops – Lilac Whisper.

Thanks for stopping by!
